Otherthings began as Juan Orozco’s personal laboratory—a space for building instruments, tools, and approaches to serve his own DIY sound practice. Some of these creations, developed in collaboration with other artists, have become central to the platform: with Manecolabs, reimagining the Drawdio and creating the Minisynth, playful, hands-on tools for introducing concepts of sound, electronics, and creativity within a STEAME (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics & Education) framework; and with Heiko Engelage, developing the EKEKO Eurorack cases and holders. Over time, these projects sparked curiosity beyond Juan’s studio, evolving into a platform that now hosts workshops, shares instruments and resources, and releases work that fosters a trans-generational sound community, bringing together people of all ages.
